Robert W Thygerson

Robert W. Thygerson (1921–2017) was born in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin and served in the army during World War II. He completed his musical education after the war and spent most of his career in Kettering, Ohio. For 32 years, Thygerson taught music, directed ensembles, and was the superintendent of music and arts in the Kettering City School District. He was also an active church musician and a much sought-after keyboard accompanist and jazz "sideman." Thygerson retired in 1981 and spent the last 36 years of his life in Florida, where he directed musical endeavors in his retirement community and continued to perform as a pianist into his 90s, despite severe arthritis in his hands. As a composer and arranger, Thygerson published hundreds of works for organ, piano, and chorus, primarily with Lorenz Publishing Co. In addition to his many classical pieces, he was also a gifted jazz and pop arranger.
