David Clark Isele

David Clark Isele (1946–2016) was educated at the Oberlin Conservatory, Southern Methodist University, and the Eastman School of Music. From 1973–79, he was a faculty member at the University of Notre Dame, where he was the founder of the Notre Dame Chorale and conductor of the Notre Dame Glee Club. From 1980–2011 he served the University of Tampa as Professor of Music, Composer in Residence, and Director of Choral and Vocal Activities. During his years at the university he founded the Collegiate Chorale, the Women's Glee Club, and a musical theater ensemble. Isele wrote more than 100 works in diverse genres that included orchestral works, solo instrumental pieces, large choral works, songs, chamber pieces, and choral anthems. His Holy Cross Mass is sung regularly at hundreds of churches. His concert music has been performed throughout the United States and Europe. Isele was also active as a conductor, organist, and church musician.
